Peter Uihlein, (MA), Team New England’s European PGA Tour representative, showed up at the Honda Classic last week. I thought looking at Peter’s road to the PGA Tour might be worth a cursory look.

Uihlein’s 2013 season on the European PGA Tour with earnings of over $1.8 million gives him the ability to gain sponsor’s exemptions into PGA Tour events in this 2014 season.

Peter has an impressive competitive golf resume including:

  • Named AJGA Player of the Year in both 2005 and 200
  • Had eight top-10 finishes, earning over $1.8 million to finish 14th  in the Race to Dubai.

Peter, the son of the Titleist Golf Company’s CEO Wally Uihlein, appears to have taken aim on his goals for the 2014 season. Among those goals Peter hopes to move inside the Top 50 in the World Golf Rankings giving him access to the World Golf Championship events, plus invitations to the Masters, U.S. Open, Open Championship and the PGA Championship.

I expect 2014 to be the year Peter Uihlien gains full status on the PGA Tour.
