Maine Golf Trail New England is the oldest golfing region in the country with over 1000 courses spread across 6 states. In Northern New England, states of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont have nearly 300 courses alone. With an eclectic mix of seaside links, parkland designs and mountain courses,

Northern New England has one of the most diverse course designs anywhere in the world today. If you live in the Northeast a road trip to Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont is a must do every season. Choose one of the many Stay & Play packages available or just pick a region and play 3-4 different courses, which is my yearly favorite.

Stratton MtDonald Ross is one of the best known course designers in Northern New England with nearly 30 course designs.  Geoffrey Cornish designed even more in the region with nearly 40. There are also courses and resort courses by Tillinghast, Palmer, Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones Jr. Graham Cook and a host of other legends in the game. Many of New England’s most spectacular course designs are sprinkled throughout its three northern states. Traveling to warmer destinations in winter makes sense for most but a Spring, Summer or Fall golf getaway is just a few hours away by car and offers some of the best golf anywhere without spending hours in airports and paying for flights and rental cars.

Want to talk about value at some of the best golfing regions in Northern New England. For couples and or buddies golf trips you can stay and play in most regions for about $100 per day including golf and rooms double occupancy and in many cases get a great breakfast included. Let’s face it, three rounds of golf at three different courses and two nights for $250-$300 for a long weekend is as good as it gets, can you say road trip!
